Almost all caps can be brushed
With the brush, you avoid the use of water and soap. The cap becomes free of dust and dirt, which is good because a dust-coated fabric and suede will just attract more dust and grime. However, use only the brush only if the material is suitable enough for brushing. For example, normal and loosely woven wool is not suitable for brushing. This will cause the wool to ripple and create pilling on the surface. If you are unsure whether the cap can be brushed then watch the Wilgart guide video on brushing a cap or hat.
When washing is unavoidable
Proper washing depends on what material your cap is made of. Washing instructions for wool caps are different from leather caps, silk or linen. Find out what material the cap consists of so you can do the appropriate cleaning.
Repair of the cap
Wilgart is a cap maker and does all repairs on caps, but not on felt hats. A milliner or hatter will be able to restore any kind of hat in felt, straw or similar that has been pulled over a hat block, while a cap maker will be able to repair your hat or cap that is sewn in fabric on a sewing machine.
