History

Godâ Shirts was founded by Niels Ebdrup in 2018, with a vision of selling Hawaiian shirts with local motifs, sewn and sold on Bornholm. Wilgart would like to develop a more professional production and distribution of these unique products. Wilgart took over in 2023, changed its name to the Bornholmerskjorten (The Bornholm Shirt).

Fortunately, Niels Ebdrup has agreed to help with texts and the creative process to the extent possible. For us, it is great to have the founder himself involved in the coming few years. Not least because we can slowly learn to understand the company’s DNA, and learn from Niels’ own great fascination with the Hawaiian shirt as a phenomenon.

Project

This project is about love for Bornholm and for a cool product with a good story. There is good synergy between Wilgart’s other activities and this new business branch. If the project enjoys the necessary support, the island’s residents can once again be proud that they once again have their very own special Bornholm shirt, with an associated increased quality of life as a result.

The Bornholm shirt contributes to a large extent to the story of Bornholm, as an island that supports entrepreneurship, craftsmanship and unique products.

Washing & Ironing

The shirt is sewn in viscose fabric, which makes it very soft and comfortable to wear. Viscose tends to wrinkle and shrink a little in the wash. But the shirt will come back into shape if you use steam when ironing. This causes the fibers in the fabric to relax and the shirt regains much of its original size. Wash the shirt at a maximum of 40°C. Gently pull it into shape while it is still wet and leave it to dry. Avoid using a tumble dryer. Iron the shirt on low to medium heat.

Iron the collar

The shirt collar is designed to be left open. After washing, it can be ironed to make the opening look sharp.
