Handmade Danish Headwear

Wilgart is a hat shop and cap workshop in Nørrebro. We make custom caps using old, traditional craftsmanship methods. I started Wilgart in 2010, after a nomadic journey through Europe. During that trip, I stumbled upon a lovely old cap workshop in southern Germany, where I became an apprentice. I fell in love with the craft, and since then I’ve been working to build a livelihood for myself as a cap maker.

Gifts from Wilgart to your employees

At Wilgart you can get corporate gifts that reflect your values around Danish craftsmanship.
All products can later be exchanged by your employees for another product or a different size.
For example, it can be very difficult to know colleagues’ measurements, but it is always possible to exchange your hat for another, even without having a receipt with you. We know our own products…
It is also possible to buy and order gift cards, however, remember that gift cards are always taxed. You can read more about the tax rules for corporate gifts at SKAT.

Good solid cap craftsmanship

A cap from Wilgart is guaranteed longevity and craftsmanship in production. Our flatcap caps are sewn by my Master Herr Bullmann, and our sailor caps and baseball caps are sewn at our workshop on Bornholm and Nørrebro.

If you want to give your employees something really special, consider giving them a gift card for a custom-made cap that costs between DKK 900 – DKK 2,700.

A sailor cap adds character

Here is a small selection of styles that you can buy for your employees whether your gift budget is small or large. Sailor caps, also known as skullcaps, are popular as their universal round shape is very flattering.

Historically, the skullcap is said to be one of the world’s most widespread types of headgear.

Speculation claims that the shape dates back 3.3 million years to the Paleolithic period, when it consisted of coiled plant fibers woven and sewn together. One of the earliest depictions of the skullcap may be the historical find Venus of Willendorf. Venus from Willendorf was probably made 27,000 years BC.

Tools & accessories

A Wilgart cap is a product you can wear for many years of your life. But it’s important to take good care of your cap and even more important to have the right tools and knowledge.

We have a cap hanger that holds the shape of your cap and looks great in your hallway, or order our hat brush with handle, a medium stiff pear wood brush with engraved Wilgart logo.

If you want to wash your cap, it is important to do it properly. Wilgart’s flatcaps come in many different materials. Proper washing and maintenance depends on the fibers the cap is made of. You can read more on Wilgart’s new Washing & Maintenance section

The Bornholmer Shirt

The special and popular Bornholmer Shirt in the classic herring print. With motifs from Bornholm, you are sure to get in the holiday mood of the Hawaii shirt-inspired look.

It’s not Hawaii
-but it’s damn close!

Please note: The shirt is currently at our workshop on Bornholm and therefore cannot be tried on at our store in Nørrebro.
Please also expect a longer delivery time for online orders of this item.

Remember to book well in advance!

Wilgart is a small company and we want to do everything we can to satisfy our customers. However, we cannot walk on water and our ability to produce new items or large orders in December is severely limited. Therefore, come to us in good time if you want to place a large order.
