After five years of research and hard work, Wilgart is publishing a truly substantial book. Look forward to 336 pages filled with love, knowledge, and admiration for headwear in all its forms. Cap styles are described in depth, along with accounts from a wide variety of figures in the hat industry and anecdotes from the innermost recesses of the hatmaker’s and capmaker’s minds. A masterpiece of storytelling—both culturally historical and contemporary—about headwear and craftsmanship from the perspective of Denmark’s only cap maker. It’s not every day, every year, or even every decade that a substantial book about caps and hats is published. —And certainly not in Danish!

Come celebrate this occasion with us—we’ll be in good company, and you won’t want to miss this 336-page explosion of knowledge about hats, culture, and craftsmanship.

Locally produced shirts inspired by the legendary Hawaiian shirts are now being relaunched by Wilgart.

These are summery garments with a special Bornholm Hawaiian-inspired aesthetic. Equipped with familiar Bornholm motifs and Bornholm island culture.

The fabric is lightweight viscose woven from breathable natural fibers – the perfect fabric for a loose summer shirt.

The motifs are a tribute to the sunshine island in the 1950s. Back then, visitors traveled to Bornholm by either the ferries Rotna, Hammershus or Kongedybet. Or they flew with the propeller airplane from Det Danske Luftfartsselskab.

When guests arrived, it was to enjoy the summer, the sights, the nature – life! And perhaps also the temptations of summer. They could be found in the smokehouses in the form of smoked herring, and they could be found in the hotels, which in the evening had musicians playing music for dancing in the grand ballrooms.

For more than 100 years, Bornholm has lured vacationers to the beaches, varied nature, historical monuments and the sense of freedom and lightness that arrives with summer vacation. The summery impressions and good vibes are the inspiration for your new shirt.

The shirt is sewn in viscose, a lightweight fabric that allows the body to breathe. In other words, it’s made for loose summer shirts. If you explore the motifs printed on the shirt, you will find a number of impressions that belong on Bornholm: There’s the fishing boat and the smoked herring. There are the figs that sailors once brought home to the island long, long ago. And there are the eider ducks that breed on Christiansø.

Godâ Skjorter (Bornholm for Aloha Shirts) was founded by Niels Ebdrup in 2018, with a vision to create Hawaiian shirts with local motifs, sewn and sold on Bornholm. Niels’ entrepreneurship took off, and for a number of years the shirts were widely used and loved by the local population on Bornholm. The project subsequently needed new forces, and in 2023 Wilgart signed a transfer contract with Niels Ebdrup and relaunched the Bornholm-produced Hawaiian shirt with a new name and logo. The Bornholmer Shirt will continue to be produced on Bornholm, and we are always looking for new exciting collaborations on motifs and prints for the shirt.

This project is about love for Bornholm and for a cool product with a good story. There is good synergy between Wilgart’s other activities and this new business branch. If the project enjoys the necessary support, the island’s residents can once again be proud that they once again have their very own special Bornholm shirt, with an associated increased quality of life as a result.

The Bornholm shirt contributes to a large extent to the story of Bornholm, as an island that supports entrepreneurship, craftsmanship and unique products.

Since Wilgart took over the Bornholm shirt, we have so far only produced shirts from the same materials as before. As something new, in 2024 we introduced the shirt as a women’s model, based on cuts we received from Bente Hammer. As a result, the Bornholmer shirt is now also available with incisions and long sleeves.

In the long term, we dream of publishing new prints and limited editions, and in this context, we are constantly looking for artists who would like to be published on the local Bornholm hawaii shirt. We’d love to hear from you if you have an original idea.

But now we can present a new collaboration with Denmark’s oldest hat company, which still makes handmade hats here in Denmark. Stig Andersen is a true hat craftsman, trained by his father in the company Andersen & Berner.

We offer two classic models: the Fedora hat and the classic Bogart hat with black bow and clean-cut edge. In addition, we sell a luxury hat in beaver felt, which often has to be ordered in advance. All our hats are handmade in Denmark.

Since 1946, when Stig Andersen’s father set up the company with his friend Berner, hats have been made in a backyard in Nørrebro in Copenhagen. After a number of years, however, Berner left the company, put his hat on the shelf, and instead bought a tavern, which he ran for many years. Mr. Andersen, on the other hand, continued to make hats, and in 1983 Stig Andersen, his son, took over the hat factory in Nørrebro.

Due to the gentrification of the district, and the associated urban renewal and rent increases, the factory has been forced to move out of Nørrebro, and has been relocated in Helsinge, North Zealand. We are proud that our custom made hats in Wilgart’s hat shop are made of the absolute best material for hats, namely with beaver hair. Moreover, the beaver felt hat is made only according to the measurements and preferences of the customer. We start with the classic Fedora hat, which is available in two classic colors, namely: black and gray.

But you can also choose between 8-10 different hat bands. On some models it is possible to order several different hat bands that you can switch between them. Try putting together your hat here.

Delivery time for a personal luxury hat from Wilgart is 8-10 weeks. The beaver felt fedora comes in a nice hat box, accompanied by a hat brush from Wilgart. In addition, you can choose a hat pin with a piece of real Bornholm granite, and a pair of cufflinks in a matching shade.

In a good hat shop, one makes sure to consider everything hat related. Therefore, Wilgart has over the years developed a number of accessories for both hats and caps. In the collection you will find various tools such as hats and cap brushes, boxes for storage, hat bands, hatpins and specially custom-made hat hooks for wall-mounted hat storage.

We have also developed a dedicated hat shelf, as this furniture is hard to find, and disappeared from our wardrobes since before the hat was impossible to opt out, and nowadays is a personal option. Until the hat shelf is in place, you can use our hats and cap hooks, which we have made on Bornholm especially for you.

Our attitude is that Danish men have forgotten the shaving culture.

Many have disarmed this delightful tradition by making everyday shaving a practical act of duty. But in doing so, the man has lost the feeling of well-being before, during and after shaving. Over the past decade, old-fashioned traditional shaving has found its way back to the minds of many Danes. Not least because the ritual requires you to give yourself time and be careful. After all, it’s your throat you’re betting on, and you don’t want an inattentive shave on your neck, play with your life.

With our gear, we want shaving to become a cultured ritual that evokes joy and at the same time becomes an exercise you can master. Old-fashioned shaving isn’t necessarily easy, but it’s fun and sometimes challenging.

Many men even have a nostalgic affinity for both the razor and shaving brush. Traditional shaving becomes a great counterpart to the fast and hectic world we are part of. The well-being you feel after a good shave is an experience that suits most people.

Wilgart’s assortment of shavers ranges from the best razors, to all necessary accessories for traditional shaving. All equipment has been tested by ourselves and carefully selected for the shop. So far we have hesitated to use a razor blade, but who knows, maybe one day we will take this next step. If you are considering a switch from an electric razor to using good shaver, we recommend a razor with a closed comb. Optionally as a set with holder and brush.

In addition, you need to find a few bowls, a shaving soap, some rags and a good fat cream to care for the skin. Then you have everything you need.

Fortunately, we have also been able to expand the range for men who appreciate a well-kept beard. We have really good beard scissors from Mühle. We also offer beard brushes and beard combs with Wilgart’s name engraved. As well as various beard care products including conditioners and oils that moisturize and maintain the beard.

Behind the illustrative yet slightly cryptic name taken from Webster’s dictionary’s description of “suspenders” is a man with a passion for well crafted things made with attention to rugged details.

Morten V. Kristensen handcrafts belts and suspenders from high quality materials. He carefully select material suppliers for his products, so he can guarantee absolute supreme quality and durability. Rouged and though craftsmanship is emphazised. Morten finds inspiration for his leather goods in Japanese magazines and old photos and movies that depict the Americana style of the late 19th century.

The ‘trouser holders’ are made from veg-tanned leather supplied by Swedish tannery Tärnsjö. Together with British elastic and solid hardware components of brass or rustfree metal, they have sturdy feeling from inside out. At the Wilgart store: Handcrafted Danish Leathergoods, we stock dark brown and cognac colored leather suspenders with two different adjustment buckles.

These leather suspenders are made by a true artisan, embracing traditional methods in his work. The suspenders are all handmade by himself in the small basement workshop in Copenhagen, Denmark.

All products come in heavy cardboard boxes and suspenders are accompanied by 6 ceramic buttons made by Morten’s mother.
