This beautiful shepherd’s hat in Harris Tweed, is sewn according to old traditions. The hat, sewn by a cap maker, is a predecessor of the urban and modern “bucket hat”, but originally the bucket hats was in heavy wool and typically worn by shepherds and villagers in Ireland and Scotland. In English-speaking countries, the shepherd’s hat is also called a bucket hat. Wilgart hat shop in Nørrebro is proud to have purchased this original herringbone-woven Harris Tweed wool, in which the bucket hat is sewn. We find it dressy for both men and women, and everything in between.
This beautiful Harris Tweed shepherd hat is made according to all the original prescriptions of shepherd’s hats also called sheppard hats. It is a warming protector against wind and weather, and is of course sewn in tweed from the wool of English and Scottish sheep. When the shepherd’s hat became popular in the big cities, it changed shape and material, and it even changed its name to: Bucket hat, or in Danish ‘Bølle hat’.
