Wilgart does not repair or restore felt or straw hats. That&#8217;s because we&#8217;re cap makers and not hatters. Wilgart is a cap maker and therefore does not work in felt.<\/p>\n<p>Repairing felt hats, as well as unblocking felt and Panama hats, requires separate tools that a cap maker like Wilgart does not have at his disposal. On the other hand, we refer to one of the skilled milliners in our guild, <a href=\"https:\/\/danskemodister.dk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Danish Milliners and Hatters<\/a>. A milliner or hatter will be able to restore any kind of hat in felt, straw or similar that has been pulled over a hat block, while a cap maker will be able to repair your hat or cap that is sewn in fabric on a sewing machine.[\/vc_column_text][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Prices&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;]Wilgart&#8217;s price list for repairs is indicative and repairs are always based on an individual discretion we make in the cap workshop by physically inspecting the hat or cap.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Replacing just under 100 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Replacing the buckle 100 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement buckle + strap 200 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement of brim 400 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement of lining on flatcaps 600 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement of lining on baseball, sailor &amp; army caps 400 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement of sweatbands 200 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Inserting a custom necklabel 100 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Loose seams 100 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Cap blocking 150 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Extension of felt hat 200 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Adjustment to smaller size with extra sweatband 200 kr.<\/li>\n<li>Adjusting the height\/depth of a cap 300 kr.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In relation to pricing, it is worth noting that you should not think the price reflects the time that the repair itself takes. This means that you also pay for the possibility of a repair. In our case, that there is a cap maker workshop that has several special industrial sewing machines, and also that a skilled craftsman with many years of specialized experience can sew and repair the cap. These factors mean that even if a repair only takes 5 minutes or 25 minutes, the price is not calculated in the time consumption alone.<\/p>\n<p>For the same reason, we charge for all types of repairs, even those that take a short time to complete.[\/vc_toggle][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;44350&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;Service&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left|color:%23000000&#8243; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Service on Wilgart&#8217;s own caps is of course free of charge. We usually provide 2-3 years of service on Wilgart caps, which covers, among other things, detached seams, changing buttons or buckles, as well as general technical errors that can occur after the cap has been used.<\/p>\n<p>However, service does not cover wear and tear caused by the sun&#8217;s rays or accidental use of the cap in an environment for which the materials are not intended. For example, we do not cover damage to a silk cap that has been taken to work as a carpenter or craftsman. For physically heavy jobs, we recommend a leather cap, coarse wool cap or durable linen cap. Nor does our service cover scalds applied to the material of the cap by exposure to sweat or the like. Materials such as linen, cotton and silk can be permanently damaged by sweat, where the wool has a better resistance to salts and sweat factors. In addition, be aware that the cap can change size over time. We do not accept dirty or greasy caps in the workshop. Wash the cap as best you can, and if you are in doubt about how to do it, check out our section on washing and maintenance.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;The cap changes appearance when repaired&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;]You should be prepared for the fact that a repair typically changes the appearance of the cap. If we have to change the shade or lining, the aesthetic expression will change, as a result of new materials, etc.<\/p>\n<p>However, we do not compromise on comfort, and always make sure that the size of the cap remains the same, so that you can use it unhindered after a repair.<\/p>\n<p>If the cap has already been a little too tight or a little too loose before the repair, it is important to pass this information on to us before we start. Then we may have an opportunity to achieve better comfort in connection with working on the cap anyway.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Repair of felt hat&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;]If you want to change, recreate or repair a soft hat in felt, we refer you to one of the many skilled milliners and cap makers in the <a href=\"https:\/\/danskemodister.dk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Danish Modisters and Hatters guild<\/a>. Wilgart are cap makers and therefore do not work in materials such as felt and straw. We do have felt and straw hats in the hat shop, but those hats are made by hatters in this country and abroad.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Changing the size of the cap&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;]It is not always possible to change the size of a cap. Especially if it is to be much larger or much smaller in circumference. Such a modification will almost always give the cap a distinctive appearance, and the repair itself is often difficult and thus costly. If the cap is just going to be one to two sizes smaller, it is usually easier. Changes in the size of a cap are always based on an individual assessment in the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>If the cap or hat needs to be expanded just 1\/2-1 size, you can try our <a href=\"https:\/\/wilgart.dk\/en\/shop\/accessories\/hat-and-cap-stretcher\/\">Hats stretches<\/a>[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Why has my cap gotten smaller\/bigger?&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;]All Wilgart caps come with a brim insert that ensures that the cap is more dimensionally stable than most other caps on the market.<br \/>\nHowever, you should expect some change in cap size over time. This is related to the fact that we work with natural fibers, which always change a little. The fibers change character when exposed to the following 3 factors<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat<\/li>\n<li>Moisture<\/li>\n<li>Activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Therefore, you can advantageously counteract changes in the size of the cap by adding the same three elements. Typically in the form of Steam (heat and moisture) and then either stretch the cap (expand) or let dry without stretching (shrink).
