This beret hat is inspired by the traditional Basque headwear, but without the normal dutteli-flip-dut-pling that sits on top of the classic berettes. Read about the distinction between cap makers and hatters in our blogpostcapmaking vs. hatmaking.
This Basque hat is handmade in Germany at my master’s sewing workshop in Bamberg, Bavaria. The berets are not made of felted wool, which many of the classic dishes are made of, instead our hat comes in frizzy woven boucle wool, which is sewn together on a sewing machine by skilled cap makers.
